This year we started a new tradition in the Alvarez house for Christmas (along with thousands of other people this year too, i think). We bought Elena the Elf on the Shelf book. It's a cute little book explaining how an elf comes after Thanksgiving to watch over the children in the house and report back to Santa every night on whether they were naughty or nice. Then the elf comes back in the morning and is hiding in a different spot to watch over again the next day, and so on. It is pretty amazing how a little toy elf can somewhat help control a 3 year olds behavior! :)
Elena wanted to name our elf Ella, so we promptly went out and bought her a skirt. :) We had a fun time hiding her and every morning Elena woke up and immediately wanted to look for her. (There we several nights where we woke up in the middle of the night and realized we hadn't shifted her position! So a few days were not very creative hiding spots, ha ha!) Here are a few of the fun ones ~
Elena really enjoyed finding her every morning and it is going to be fun to continue this new tradition!
We did a couple of projects to help Elena with counting down the days until Christmas. The tree was sent home from preschool and she got to cut out an ornament each day and glue it on. She got so much better at cutting circles throughout the month!
I also printed of this Santa face from Pinterest and Elena glued cotton balls on until his beard was completely white and fluffy!
We put them on the fridge and she was very proud of them.
She was pretty happy and excited when we got to the last day and she knew the next day would be Christmas!!
