Newport Beach.

We finally made it to Newport Beach! This place is amazingly beautiful!! Robert and I have visited this beach before and that is how we knew it would be a great spot to return to. Elena was thrilled to see the ocean! She kept yelling - look at the sand and water!! :) She immediately took off to put her feet in.
You can't tell from Elena's excitement but the water was freezing!! I can't believe there were crazy people out swimming in it. But if we had let her Elena would have gone right in too!
We walked for a long time enjoying the scenery. We came to some rocks and decided to climb up and grab a couple pictures.
We had to get back to the car and change Elena because she was soaked with cold water from the waist down! Then we rented some bicycles and rode up and down the beach front. This area is so awesome! Dreams of retiring here?? Maybe someday! Elena loved the kid seat on the bike. She had never been on one before and totally enjoyed it.
We rode for quite a while and then decided to stop and grab something to eat at one of the little shops along the way. We settled for a little pizza place.
We were all being pretty goofy here! Especially Robert who made masks to entertain us while we waited for our food!
I have had a ton of people tell me recently how much E looks like me. But take a look at these pictures! She definitely looks like Robert too!
After dinner we decided to drive into the town a little ways to get something sweet for dessert. I wanted to get Sprinkles Cupcakes, a cute little shop that has deliciously over-priced gourmet cupcakes! But we forgot it was a Sunday and not everyone is on vacation around here and missed the store closing by 10 minutes! I was heartbroken. So we went next door to a little gelato place that was still open. About 10 people after us did the same exact thing - walk up to the Sprinkles door, realize it is closed and head over to the gelato shop! (Robert decided that they must have the same owner and this is how they get more business to the gelato place!) But the gelato was fantastic!! I mean really, really good! So we forgot about the cupcakes quickly! (and we will still have something to do next time we are back in this area!)
Yummy...
Elena crashed so hard on the way back to the hotel. She fell asleep with her legs crossed! It was the cutest thing-she looked so old sitting like that!
And that brings an end to our California adventure! We crammed a ton of stuff into just a few days but it was such a blast and we had so much fun! We can't wait to go on another family adventure!
