This year was the first time Robert and I had ever been to the fair together and the first time we had taken either of our kids! When we headed out we noticed that this little guy decided he wanted to join us! He literally made it all the way to Hutch (a good 40 minute drive on the highway!) we were impressed!!
The first stop was checking out the livestock. Pigs, sheep, goats, ducks, geese, horses, literally every farm animal! Including chickens -
Daddy did some animal showing back in the day and was having fun pointing out all the different types of chickens he used to own - who knew??
Elena was a pretty brave girl this year!! She even tried the high trampoline jump! She was scared at first but then loved it!
The we headed to the smaller rides. Technically Dom really wasn't big enough for this but the worker let us put him on the inside with Elena. He cried when it was time to get off!!
Elena had a ton of fun with all the rides.
Mommy did too! He he.
Elena even tried the darts!
and some big girl rides that I honestly thought she wouldn't want to ride! She surprised me with how brave she was!
Have you noticed how red our faces are in these pictures?? It was so incredibly hot. This was the temperature on the Grandstand!! What???
Dom was a trooper! And loved the lemonade!
and I finally convinced Elena to ride the water ride with me! She hated every second of it! But we cooled off - lol!
Robert let her get a fake tattoo that I was not too happy about, but she thought the butterfly on her foot was the coolest thing ever. I guess that tells you who the ''cool'' parent is! ;)
Dominic didn't ask for much this day but when he saw the giant inflatable bats he went nuts! So Robert hit up the baseball speed pitch game and won him one. ;)
Finally we decided the heat was enough and grabbed some ice cream and sno cones for the walk out. On the way out we decided to make one last stop at the Lego area. It was so cool!
With two hot and tired kids and two hot and tired parents, this is the best group shot we could get! :)
State Fair 2013 - done! (Hopefully next year it won't be 1,000 degrees when we go!)
