Busy weekend!

Last month the kids went through a stretch of being sick for a full week :(
Sister reading a story to make them feel better :)
When they finally felt better I decided to take them out to build a bear to celebrate (and I had a coupon too) They had a blast and Elena picked out an Anna bear to go with her Elsa bear and Dom picked out Toothless! Mommy is such a sucker - we definitely didn't need any more stuffed animals in our house!
We had a yummy dinner and capped the Friday fun off with Target! Perfect ending if you ask me!
Saturday we headed to check out the big train expo. Dominic was so excited!
This was so cool - you could push the button and make the fire truck go in and out of the station.

It was pretty cool and the kids seemed to have a fun time!
Next up was the shocker game - the kids were sporting their new gear we got at Target the night before!
We met up with my friend Mary at Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the game. And I finally got to meet her new little man - Dominic was in awe of the baby. :) Seriously, he loves babies - he would be a great big brother...makes my uterus twitch a little when I see how sweet he is! Ha ha!
Drake and Elena got to spend some quality time together too - they have been buddies since birth! Crazy to see how big they are getting!
Later that day we went to the park - it got up to 70°!!!!! Yay for (hopefully) the beginning of spring!
Sunday was spent relaxing, playing games, watching TV and a little cleaning.
Oh and one more bike ride down to the park :)
The fresh air did us all a world of good! Can't wait until it's warmer weather all the time!!

Alumni Softball Game {2014}

Last weekend was our annual Newman Softball Alumni game! Woo hoo! We had a great turnout this year and man, am I starting to feel old! This year marked 10 years since graduation!!!! What?!?!? That's impossible! It was just yesterday! Here is some of the alumni -
Always great to see Kathy and Josie as well as the other girls --
Elena got to hang out with the big girls in the dugout - she thought she was big stuff!
Man I miss playing so much! In fact, while we were warming up I got the bright idea that I should try to pitch again - you know for old times sake. See if the old lady still has it. It must have been the beer talking because I haven't even pitched a ball since before Elena was born! But I did decent and even got a strikeout! Woot woot! But I was pretty much instantly sore! (and still a little sore almost a week later - geez!!)
Here is a great picture of the alumni with the current players!
After the game we had some yummy food and tasty beverages and got the chance to reminisce. :)
Then it was time for ice...and maybe another beer or two! ;)

Another fun Alumni Game in the books!

Soccer - take two.

Reasons why I think this may be the only season of soccer for Miss Elena:
1. She sticks her hands out to the side like a girlie girl when she runs
2. She squeals at the ball when it is near her and usually runs away from it
3. She would rather talk to the girls on the other team than get the ball from them
4. She told us she just wants to have practice, not play in games
5. She says its really hard to be aggressive
6. She will randomly stop what she is doing in a game and start spinning around in circles
7. She was a little sick the other day so we let her nap and decided not to wake her up for her game but to let her rest. When she got up Robert told her she was sleeping so good that we hated to wake her for the game. She replied - I slept extra long so I wouldn't have to go to my game!!
Other than that I got some really cute pictures from her last game. In some it actually looks like she is being aggressive too! :)
She is fun to watch once I let go of my competitive nature (extremely hard by the way!) and I would like to point out she is not doing the head stand below - but I thought it was too funny not to take a picture of!
Dominic really likes being outside and watching his sister play soccer. He will just happily sit and stare at the game the whole time!
Go Layna Go!

We will see how the rest of the season goes! :)

Soccer.

Elena has started her first team sport -- soccer! We decided this would be a great sport to start out with to learn about playing with a team and so we could run out some of her crazy energy! I know absolutely nothing about soccer so this season is going to be interesting. Luckily we have a good friend who has his own soccer club with several teams of different ages. It is nice to know that she is learning the right way to play soccer from a great coach! Here are some pictures from her first practice.
Watching six 3 year olds trying to learn how to play soccer is pretty hilarious! Bless the coach for his patience (cause I sure couldn't do it!).
Elena really seemed to enjoy it! Baby Dominic slept through the whole thing! ;)
It is going to be so fun watching her play this year - and she has already made some great friends!
Perfect end to a hot 1st practice - Popsicles!! :)
Go Blue Lightning Soccer!
