With Robert out of town for the weekend, Elena and I decided to take a girls trip down to Dallas to have a little fun (and I had a birthday surprise in store for her that she had no idea about!). We left Dominic with my parents and headed out. What was Elena's first request? Lunch at Whataburger!!
We got to Dallas and arrived at our friends Anthony and Marisol's house and then headed over to Buffalo Wild Wings to enjoy some snacks, cold beverages and trivia! Fun times, of course we had to break out the crowns!
Later that evening Andrew wanted to take Elena to the coolest candy store ever! It was unreal!
We relaxed at home the rest of the evening and played some fun games. We got up early the next morning to take Elena to her big surprise - the American Girl Doll Store! She saw it was we pulled up and started freaking out! She was shocked! She even hugged the building when we walked up! Lol
She has been pouring over the catalogue for months (how did they get our address anyways?! :)) and asking for a doll so Robert and I decided to get her one this birthday! She was estatic!
After quite a bit of browsing she decided on Isabelle! She is a ballet dancer and just happens to have some pink hair extensions - right up Elena's alley!
But wait...that's not all! We headed upstairs after that...
To have brunch with her new friend in the Bistro!
Isabelle even got her own chair at our table! :)
Elena loved this so much!
At the end of the meal they brought out a little birthday surprise and we sang Happy Birthday!
The look on her face and all the fun she had was totally worth it! :)
Marisol and I had decided to do a 5k this weekend while I was there so we left the kids with Anthony and headed for our race! Oh, did I mention it was a wine run? through a vineyard...with wine at the end for finishing!! Totally up our alley. ;)
Our matching shirts were perfect for the race!
It was a trail run and I hadn't done one of those in years, it was pretty tough!!
But we finished right over 30 minuted and enjoyed our finishers wine! Cheers!
We cooled down for a little bit and enjoyed the winery - it was really pretty and they even had a live band!
Elena had a blast playing with Andrew and Isabelle while we were gone. She also loved the fact that I had packed them matching jammies to sleep in that night! (Sometimes Mommy is on the ball!)
The next day we did a little shopping and watched part of the Cowboys game before we headed home!
When we left the Cowboys were playing terrible but they ended up turning it around and winning! Woo hoo! So when we stopped we had some celebratory ice cream! Yay! (we also congratulated ourselves for getting through some nasty traffic!)
This girl was beat after such a fun weekend!
We were so happy to get home to Dom! And we brought him some new Cowboys gear too!
What a fun and memorable birthday week! Thank you for everything Marisol!!! It was a blast!!
