Memorial Weekend - part 1.

This year for Memorial Weekend we got to spend time at the lake with some good friends. But before we went we wanted to pay tribute to my Grandparents like we do every year. This is the real reason for Memorial Day and I want to make sure that Elena understands what this holiday is really about! No matter how many times I have been to the cemetery on this day the beauty of seeing all the flags flying always amazes me. It really is breathtaking. We picked up some pretty red, white and blue flowers and headed out to decorate my Grandparent's grave.
We also put some on my Aunt's grave as well - she always loved coming here on this holiday. She would have been very happy with the patriotic flower choice.
Each large flag is flying in honor of a US Veteran and their name is on that flag. We were able to track down my Grandfather's flag, Dominic Martelli, but couldn't find my Grandmother's flag. We found out that the flag was damaged last Memorial day in a wind storm and needs to be replaced. :( I wish they would have contacted us sooner because we definitely would have had a replacement out there so that her flag could fly today too.  Next year I will definitely have a picture of both of their flags!
Later that day we decided to cool off in the pool ~
Sarah brought Jack over for his first introduction to the pool! As you can see below - he is not yet a fan! :)
Lindsay also came over and relaxed and swam too. Ahh, relaxing on a float in the pool - one of my favorite things to do in the summer!
For some reason, Robert bought Elena some fake mustaches to play with. We tried them out as we headed over to hang out with our friends Kylie and Brady later that evening. It was pretty hilarious! We were laughing so hard Robert and I were pretty much in tears!
Lilah and Elena were pretty darn hilarious too! :)
The funny thing about the mustaches was that Robert didn't even look like he was wearing a fake one! Ha ha ha!
I think the adults had just as much (if not more!) fun with them than the kiddos did! :)

Massive May Catch-up!

May ended up being one of the busiest months ever!! So in the effort to catch up I am going to summarize all of the busy-ness in pictures! At least up to Memorial Day Weekend, then I should be back on track! May included ~
Cinco de Mayo - :)
Start of the 3rd trimester!! We are getting so close!! Had a final sonogram and he looks like he will have very large feet with long toes - just like Daddy :) He is also already approximately 4.5 lbs with 9 weeks still left to grow! Yikes - he might be a big boy!
Mother's Day - Love my homemade gifts from Miss Elena!!
Last day of preschool!!!
A very long business trip to the Cincinnati area ~ I passed a huge test that I needed for work! Whew! So glad that it is over!! (This little trip also included bad weather and an unexpected overnight stay in Chicago - with no luggage!)
A good friend's wedding - including a penguin as a party guest! (Elena even got to pet him!)
Sofia's 1st Birthday!
Fun with friends at the lake ~
and with Grandma too!
Getting to hang with my Newman softball teammates for dinner!
A couple of back yard projects for Daddy and his little helper!
(More to come on these!)
and of course I can't leave out The Month of Lindsay...
Now you can see why it was pretty much impossible to blog! :) I must say that I missed having time to blog and am glad to be (almost) caught up!

5 years later!

5 years ago on April 27, Robert and I got married! I just can't believe how the time has flown! What's even more crazy is that we have been together for 9! We had big plans to rent a condo on Myrtle Beach for a week to celebrate but the little man in my belly has put a slight change in our plans! So instead we opted for a nice date night together while my parents watched Elena for the night.
Elena wanted to be able to do this so bad that she practiced in the mirror until she could! :) We had to document it for her!
We decided to try a couple new things this evening and ventured to a nearby town to try out an Italian restaurant I had heard lots of great things about, Luciano's.
It was really yummy and definitely worth the drive! Check out this bowl that the salad came in - made of cheese!! Hello!
We enjoyed our dinner and ended with a white chocolate creme brulee - which was wonderful!
For another new adventure we decided to hit up the new casino! We actually had a really fun time and didn't lose too much! ;)
Happy Anniversary to my wonderful hubby! You are an amazing man and a wonderful father! I love you more and more everyday.

Arrgh, Matey.

Elena had dress like a pirate day at preschool last week and it was too cute not to share a couple pics. At first she told me that she didn't want to dress up (so not like her) so after a couple more questions I realized the only reason she didn't want to was because a little girl in her class didn't want to. This led to a long talk about how we don't do (or not do) things just because of others. I knew she loved to dress up and had to convince her it didn't matter what the other girl was doing. Peer pressure at 3.5 already?? Yikes! Needless to say my little pirate ended up dressing up that day. ;)

She was most excited about the tattoo (part of my negotiations) on her arm. A princess of course - hey, whatever works!
She had so much fun being dressed up at school and I am so glad that I made reasoned with her to dress up! Hopefully I made a small impact on her future decisions but I know this is just the tip of the iceberg on wanting to and not wanting to do things because of other people! Can someone please slow her down from growing up?!
